Accredited exercise physiologists (AEPs) hold a four-year university degree and are allied health professionals who specialise in the delivery of exercise and lifestyle interventions for the prevention and management of chronic diseases and injuries.

AEPs specialise in clinical exercise interventions for a broad range of pathological as well as healthy populations. These persons may be at risk of developing, or have existing, medical conditions and injuries.  AEP interventions are aimed at preventing and managing acute, sub acute and chronic disease and injury as well as assisting in restoring one's optimal physical function and wellbeing.  (www.essa.org.au)

Dominic's areas of expertise include:

  • injury rehabilitation and athletic performance through natural movement;
  • posture analysis, training and rehabilitation;
  • breathwork and mindfulness;
  • his unique Aiki Way of Body Decompression.

A typical session with Dominic involves the 5Rs: Release, Reset, Realign, Repattern and Reinforce.
(Each session is individually tailored to the client's needs.)

Release:                    Tension is meant to be released.  Many people just do not know how to do so.  Dominic's method of body decompression is NOT                                             massage and is based on a deep understanding of alignment and martial arts stretching practices.  Clients have remarked that they                                        have never experienced anything like it despite previous sessions with physiotherapists, remedial/sports massage therapists and                                            chiropractors.   It is a lot quicker, deeper and more effective than simple massage, trigger point release or stretching.  We advise you                                      to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing as there  is no need to remove clothing or mess around with any oils during the session.                                         Depending on the body part being treated you may be asked to sit, lie down on the floor or stand up.
Reset:                       Simple, easy to perform exercises to rewire the nervous system.
Realign:                    Once the body and brain are relaxed, realignment can begin.  This may involve discussion of lifestyle and behaviour change strategies                                   as we wish to empower you to make the necessary changes in your life.
Repattern:                When alignment is improved, movement therapy is introduced because life is not static.  Exercises may include physical activity, as                                        well as breathing and awareness exercises.
Reinforce:                Take home exercises to do before your next session to help reinforce the improvements experienced in your body.  This can involve                                       exercise, lifestyle changes or even postural taping methods.

It is a holistic, lifestlye approach to treatment and a process of learning.
We can guide you but you have to be prepared to do some work too.

Depending on your condition and awareness, people notice improvements after just one session, while for others it can take a little longer.

We can reteach you how to sit, stand and move the way you were meant to and help you regain your physical and psychological health, vitality and strength.

It begins with learning how to align the body,  normalise breathing and using the whole body as one connected unit.

We can cater for your needs be it corrective exercise, athletic performance, postural and breathing reeducation or diet and lifestyle interventions.
